HAVE FUN THIS FALL CREATING DECOR PROJECTS.
It’s time to put our gardens to bed and start thinking about sewing fulltime again. I was looking around for inspiration for new table décor ideas for Fall, Halloween and the Holiday season and was delighted to find so many quick and easy projects on the web.
Fabric and quilt shops also have many project patterns for the Fall season. Fall and Winter motifs are fun and easy and can be used in projects such as quilts, wall hangings, banners, table décor and home décor.
Some ideas:
Scarecrows for your door or garden. Co-ordinate your straw-person’s clothing with your décor. Don’t forget to make a jaunty matching hat!
Create your own custom table runner and napkins quickly and easily on your serger. Then embellish with machine embroidery or sewing techniques such as cut work or bobbin work.
Add customized embroidered leaves to your straw wreaths or centre pieces. Digitize your own for the perfect size and styles or choose patterns from several project books that are available. You can also cut leaves out of fabric, stabilize and top stitch the veins.
Season banners are always fun. Lots of themes to choose from: Fall, Halloween, Winter Sports and snowflakes.
Sewing allows us to create personal, unique projects that can last a season or a lifetime. Raid your fabric stash and have fun creating new décor and crafts this Fall.

TIP OF THE MONTH
Making a table cloth and napkins is super quick if you use a serger because you hem and finish at the same time, usually at a faster speed than a sewing machine.
To finish the corner, serge off the end of the fabric by making a chain, turn the fabric and serge the next side by cutting and sewing in the chain from the other side.
