UPDATE YOUR FALL WARDROBE EASILY

Brother E-letter
Fall is the perfect time to sort through your wardrobe and decide what you want to keep and what you want to discard or donate. Sometimes those classic coats and slacks don’t need to be tossed, they just need a wardrobe update to this year’s colour palette and styles. Why reinvent your wardrobe when you can economically add some great accessories or fashion items, like a new skirt or scarf, in the latest style to go with your classic jacket?

Need some inspiration to sew some of your own fashion items or accessories? There are tons of magazines that show the hot trends and colours. Of course, there is the internet too. Just search for 2010 Fall Fashion trends or colours and there is a plethora of articles that pop up.

You can design your own fashion items or choose from the many patterns available at your local fabric store. Another good source for ideas is the Pantone site at www.pantone.com, where they publish the current colour trends and forecast for the future. Wonderful warm golds, hot reds, subtle pinks and rich purples can be viewed on these sites for this year. Pick the ones that are right for you and start sewing so that your wardrobe will be up to date for this season.

PS…these colour sites are also good to help you decide on the latest home dec colour trends too. Throw cushions are a great way to update and pull your room together quickly and easily!

TIP OF THE MONTH

Brother E-letter
For best results when doing Bobbin Work, we recommend that you use a stabilizer to prevent puckering and insure accuracy when making a circle.

Be sure to do a test stitch out with the fabric, yarn and stabilizer to insure that you get the look you want first.

As with machine embroidery, choose the right stabilizer for the type and weight of fabric and yarn that you are using.
