GRADUATION - A TIME FOR MEMORIES AND DREAMS OF THE FUTURE

What a wonderful time in life! A goal achieved, life-long friendships created, memories fond and not-so-fond, the passing of youth into adulthood.

Optimism about the future and a little bit of nerves going out into the world to achieve new goals.

A perfect time to archive those memories with a lovely scrapbook, quilt or wall-hanging. What fun to look back over the years to see how much our graduate has grown and then creating a lovely memory to keep forever. As a sewer, I like use my craft to help create these memories. Nothing shows love more, than a personally created gift. Scrapbook pages can be embellished quickly with decorative stitches on fabric or leatherette.

Personal themes and names can be easily embroidered on each page. Recycle those "had to have" pink jeans or party dress into a quilt or a lovely theme of blocks that you can create with digitizing software or photo print. Ideas are limitless because they are the ones stored in your heart. Share those special memories for a lifetime. Create a keepsake on your sewing and embroidery machine that they will cherish.

TIP OF THE MONTH

Stippling or Free-Motion quilting is not just for quilts! Applique shapes with fusible webbing on to a sweatshirt or jacket and stipple to add texture.

Easily create boards on a wooden cottage, sparkling waves on the water or puffy clouds in the sky. Add some fun themed buttons or beads and voila, you have a custom created garment.

Any embroiderer will tell you that the key to successful embroidery is stabilizer because it is designed to support and hold the fabric flat while being embroidered in many directions in conjunction with the hoop. Brother Water-Soluble stabilizer is perfect for supporting the embroidery and then easily washes away to leave your embroidery in place in projects such as:


For quilting or embellishing you can also draw on the Water-Soluble with a marking pen, place the design over your fabric, and you now have a stitching guide that will disappear when washed.
