Brother donates to earthquake relief in Haiti

Financial contribution and products will be given

Montreal - January 15, 2010 – Brother Industries Ltd.(Nagoya, Japan) announced today that the company and its subsidiaries will donate 5 million Japanese yen to the Red Cross, to help with the relief efforts following the disaster caused by the devastating earthquake that struck Haiti.

For its part, Brother Canada has donated an additional $10,000 to the Canadian Red Cross who is contributing to the humanitarian efforts and to rebuilding in Haiti. The international humanitarian assistance is taking specific measures to respond to the immediate needs of Haiti’s inhabitants. Furthermore, Brother Canada responded quickly to this tragedy by contacting La maison d’Haïti in Montreal – the Haitian community’s focal point in Canada – to offer them all the products (printers, all-in-ones, fax machines and P-touch labellers) required to set up their crisis management unit. We are presently in contact with them in an effort to respond to their needs in a timely fashion.

“This devastating tragedy leaves the international community and the people of Haiti at a loss for words. As you all know, the needs in this part of the world are enormous and therefore, we encourage the Canadian business community to contribute, in their own way, to this humanitarian cause, which is monumental in its scope”, declared Martin Featherston, President of Brother Canada.
