Japanese Origins

Brother products are sold in over 100 countries around the world. The Brother Group is owned by Brother Industries Ltd., (TYO: 6448) and headquartered in Nagoya, Japan. Over 100 years ago (in 1908), the Brother Group originated its humble beginnings with two brothers, who opened the Yasui Sewing Machine Co., a company that sold and repaired sewing machines.
The name was later changed to what is now simply called Brother.

Over the last century, the Brother Group has been responsible for several important innovations, from the world's first high speed dot matrix printer in 1971 to the world's smallest self-contained mobile printer in 2004. Brother was also behind the introduction of the world’s first electronic labeller in 1988 with its very popular P-touch® brand.
